In Section 2, under the scenario of case 2: where the vaccine may work in time to prevent infection, \((\lambda +\omega <\sigma +\delta )\), there was an error in the payoff to vaccinate (Eq. 6). The probability that the individual was not infected prior to the vaccine becoming effective was incorrect; the given probability was \(\left( {1-p} \right) ^{\lambda +\omega -\delta }\) when it should have been \(\left( {1-p} \right) ^{\lambda +\omega -\sigma }\). Due to the correction in the payoff to vaccinate, a new set of parameter values were used and are listed in Table 1. The overall conclusion of the model did not change, with the Figures being very similar to previous. The only notable change was in the sensitivity analysis. The distribution of secondary infections and vaccinators no longer remains bimodal for a range of values for the probability of transmission, \(p\) (Figs. 1, 2). The distribution of secondary infections and vaccinators does remain bimodal for a small range of values for vaccine efficacy, \(\varepsilon \) (Figs. 1, 2).
