Abstract

Degradation of the surface of solid solutions La1−xCaxCoO3−δ (0.4 ≥ x ≥ 0) synthesized by the Pechini method was observed after catalytic oxidation of methane. According to XRD analysis, after the catalytic oxidation of CH4, the crystal structure of the samples did not change significantly, but HRTEM indicated the formation of nanoheterogeneities on the surface of the perovskite phase. Planar defects are formed in the direction of the crystallographic planes (111). Under the action of the reaction medium, areas with alternating layers having the perovskite and brownmillerite structure appeared in La0.6Ca0.4CoO3−δ.
