The 10th congress on “Catalysis and Automotive Pollution Control” (CAPoC10) was held at the “Université Libre de Bruxelles” (ULB) from October 28th to 30th, 2015. The proceedings of CAPoC10 will appear in two issues of the “Topics in Catalysis”. The present issue contains forty papers covering all subject topics of the congress.

As with its predecessors, the first morning session of CAPoC10 started with an introductory session on various subjects of general interest. We are indebted to Tim Johnson, Kohei Yoshida and Stefan Pischinger for setting the scene with their plenary talks about “Emerging Engine Efficiency Trends and Emission Control Needs” (T. V. Johnson, Corning Incorporated), “Application and Improvement of NOx Storage and Reduction Technology to meet Real Driving Emissions” (K. Yoshida, Toyota Motor Corporation) and “Current and Future Challenges for Automotive Catalysis—Engine Trends and their Impact” (S. Pischinger, RWTH Aachen University).

During five half-day sessions CAPoC10 provided room for seven keynote lectures, seventeen oral contributions and four poster sessions. Following the very positive experience from previous CAPoC events, plenty of room was provided to discussing the posters in the main lecture hall, with authors being given the opportunity to answer specific questions of peers. With this general format, parallel sessions could be entirely avoided.

The Editors are indebted to the members of the Scientific Advisory Board. Their expertise and knowledge base were invaluable. Papers were selected for their scientific merits during a springtime meeting in Brussels. We also extend our thanks to the more than 145 peer reviewers whose assessments were the basis for accepting papers for publication in this “Topics” issue.

Finally, we are most grateful to all co-workers, members and friends of the Chair of Chemical Physics of Materials of the Department of Chemistry at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Our special thanks go to Mr. Olivier Croquet, Congress Manager of CAPoC10. His dedication and organizing abilities were foundational for making CAPoC10 an outstanding event.
