A method of constructing orthogonal operator projectors for expanding a vector-function (for example, the voltages and currents of a multiphase electromagnetic system) into orthogonal components, symmetrical with respect to one of the elements of a finite multiplicative cyclic group of linear operators, is proposed. This method is a mathematical generalization of the method of current and voltage symmetrical components.
