Abstract

Synthesis of polyaniline (PANI)/metal nanoparticles hybrids (M NPs, M = Pd, Au, and Pt) through the template approach and their characterization were investigated. The IR study suggests that the partial oxidation of PANI main chain in the complexation of the metal salts. Subsequent reduction of the metal salts to form the M NPs induced the partial reduction of PANI main chain. Hypochromic phenomenon for π–π* and charge transfer (CT) bands were observed in UV–Vis–NIR absorption spectra for PANI/M NPs. SEM–EDX analysis revealed the uniform dispersion of M NPs. The M NPs (average diameter 2–3 nm) were clearly observed in PANI/Pd, Au, and Pt NPs. They were proton-doped, and their conductivity was investigated.
