Abstract

Two new haloplumbate/organic hybrids, [(Et2DABCO)2(Pb3I10)] n (1), [(Me2DABCO)2(Pb4I13)(H3O)(H2O)] n (2) (Et2DABCO = N,N′-diethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane, Me2DABCO = N,N′-dimethyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane) have been synthesized. Interestingly, their inorganic polymeric haloplumbates of two hybrids exhibit 1-D and 2-D arrangements under the effect of different substitutents on 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane. And the (Pb4I13) 5n−n layer in 2 is a new type of layered iodoplumbates built from the tetranuclear Pb4I15 building units. C–H···I hydrogen bonds in two compounds can be observed. Their absorption spectra were investigated, and energy band gaps of 2.67/2.60 eV indicate their broad-gap semiconductor natures. The fluorescence of 1 was observed and explained by theoretical calculation.
