Abstract

Reaction of a carbosilane congener of ferroquine 1 with the half-sandwich [Ru(η6-p-iPrC6H4Me)(µ-Cl)Cl]2 dimer yields an unexpected neutral heteronuclear Ru(II) silicon-containing ferroquine derivative complex 3 upon crystallisation. The complex crystallises in a monoclinic system with P21/c space group, with unit cell parameters a = 14.3000(10) Å, b = 17.7457(13) Å, c = 21.5727(15) Å, β = 102.908(2)o, Z = 4. Compound 1 acts as a monodentate ligand that coordinates to ruthenium via the quinoline nitrogen of the aminoquinoline scaffold, and the amine adjacent to the organosilicon entity. Each ruthenium center is surrounded by four ligands and is restricted within a slightly distorted tetrahedral environment.

Graphical Abstract

A carbosilane congener of ferroquine 1 was reacted with [Ru(η6-p-iPrC6H4Me)(µ-Cl)Cl]2 to produce an unexpected trimetallic heteronuclear silicon-containing ferroquine derivative upon crystallisation.
