Abstract

Two cadmium(II) iodide complexes, [Cd(Detu)2I2] (1) and [Cd(Diaz)2I2] (2) (Detu = N,N′-diethylthiourea; Diaz = 1,3-diazinane-2-thione) have been prepared and their structures been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal structures show that both complexes are mononuclear with the cadmium atom coordinated to two iodide ions and two thione ligands adopting a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Whereas, 2 exists as discrete monomeric species, the structure of 1 consists of three crystallographically independent molecules. The complexes were also characterized by IR and NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy.

Graphical Abstract

The crystal structures of [Cd(Detu)2I2] (1) and [Cd(Diaz)2I2] (2) show that the complexes are mononuclear with the cadmium atom coordinated to two iodide ions and two thione ligands adopting a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Whereas, 2 exists as discrete monomeric species, the structure of 1 consists of three crystallographically independent molecules.
