It is a great pleasure for me to announce this issue of Foundations of Chemistry which marks something of a landmark for our field. The majority of this issue consists of a special issue, edited by Marina Banchetti and consisting of some of the papers that were presented at the 20th annual international conference of our society. The meeting was not only wonderfully organized, in Boca Raton, by Professor Banchetti, together with her spouse Professor Clevis Headley, but she has also pursued the gathering of this special issue with great care and attention to detail. The present issue contains just the first of a two-part collection of papers in addition to a very interesting varia article by the prominent Italian philosopher of chemistry Giovanni Villani. We close with a book review of Peter Morris’ most recent work by chemical the educator Roderick Black from Kansas University, Lawrence.

As this issue goes to press we prepare to meet again for the 21st annual conference, which will take place in Paris, France and which will be organized by Jean Pierre Llored. Further information and arrangements for the meeting can be found at the following website https://sites.google.com/site/socphilchem/symposia.

I hope to also persuade Dr. Llored to put together another special issue based on the talks that will be presented at this meeting.
