Abstract
A physical principle of experiments enabling controllable generation of the pseudo-nondiffracting patterns is demonstrated by both wave and ray optics treatments. An attention is focused on the experiments based on Fourier filtering and spatial light modulation. They are applicable to 3D light shaping, particle manipulation and information encoding.
