Notes
Related problems haunt the DSM-5 and likely the ICD-11 distinction of “pedophilic disorder” and “pedophilia” per se, certainly in the light of APA’s corrigendum to the DSM-5 (in an October 31, 2013 news release) suggesting that any seeming applicability of the notion of “sexual orientation” to “pedophilic disorder” was to be regarded a “text error.” The news release curiously did not resolve whether the APA condones the former’s application to “pedophilia” per se (as it in fact was in the DSM-5) or indeed “paraphilia” per se.
The specific sense of “ego-dystonic pedophilia” is to be credited to Hirschfeld who alluded to the possibility already in 1907.
