In 2002, Archives of Sexual Behavior began sporadically publishing peer-reviewed Target Articles with open peer commentaries and a reply by the Target Article author.

We are pleased to announce that the Journal will formally establish a Target Article submission category in 2016. Target Articles will serve as a lively forum to address controversial issues in sexuality and gender research. They will also serve to showcase the breadth of contemporary interdisciplinary research on these topics and, in doing so, foster cross-talk among disciplines. Invited commentaries from a select number of experts and Target Article author responses will promote scholarly dialogue and debate.

All Target Articles are peer-reviewed. Theoretical papers, literature reviews, meta-analyses, and perspective/opinion essays about topical issues in sexuality and gender research will be considered. Target Articles and peer commentaries are by invitation only.

Proposals for Target Articles should be discussed with Paul L. Vasey, Ph.D., Associate Editor (Special Topics) (e-mail: paul.vasey@uleth.ca).
