The Japan Surgical Society has been publishing an official journal, Surgery Today, since 1992. It is published in English and is widely indexed. The number of annual submissions to Surgery Today has been more than 1,200 these past few years, and because of page limitations we have published only a limited number of papers, carefully peer-reviewed, with a focus on original articles.
However, case reports, providing clinicians and researchers with an educational forum in which to disseminate their personal experience and novel treatments to a wide readership, are important for the progress of surgery. Therefore, we have decided to establish a new journal, Surgical Case Reports, to facilitate publication of critical case reports and thereby contribute to clinical education. Surgical Case Reports is an open access, peer-reviewed online journal and will consider any original case reports in all fields of surgery.
On behalf of the Japan Surgical Society, we eagerly look forward to your submissions.
