Summary

We present two optical methods for in-line measurements of the index of refraction and the concentration of binary liquid mixtures in a nanoliter volume. Both methods deploy low coherence interferometry based on the fiber optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer. They differ in the reading technique of the optical path difference (OPD) in the sensing interferometer. One technique is based on the use of a spectrometer while the other one is based on the use of a mechanical scanner. The accuracy of the first technique for volume fractions measurements is of about ±0.2% while for the second one it is of about 1%.
