A Brillouin lidar system using F–P etalon and ICCD for remote sensing of the ocean

Abstract

A Brillouin lidar using F–P etalon and intensifier CCD (ICCD) for remote sensing of the ocean is developed. The spectrum of Brillouin scattering in the open ocean can be obtained in real time and can be used for real-time measurement of sound velocity, bulk viscosity, temperature in the ocean, as well as real-time detection of a submerged object.
