Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
Psychotherapeutic competence represents an important dimension in the therapist factor and is becoming of increasing interest in research and clinical training.
Aim
The paper provides a summary of a relevant section of the state of research on therapeutic competence and emphasizes the perspectives and difficulties in their acquisition from a research viewpoint.
Material and methods
The paper provides a definition of competencies and then focuses on the methods and results of process research on therapeutic competence in cognitive behavioral therapy.
Results
In general significant correlations have been found between therapy outcome and therapeutic competencies but not between therapy success and adherence to protocols.
Conclusion
Competent actions in therapy imply the adaptation of available interventional methods to the individual therapy context and is characterized by dimensions, such as flexibility and responsiveness. Information processing of the therapist in the acquisition of psychotherapeutic competence should therefore be taken into consideration.
