Abstract

It is shown that estimation of the conductivity of heterogeneous systems requires that the threshold concentration of the conducting component and the specific density of the packing of its particles be allowed for. An expression is obtained for calculating the threshold concentration for bidisperse systems as a function of the ratio of the sizes of the components. The calculated and experimental data agree satisfactorily. The suggested expressions are recommended for determining and estimating the conductivity of ceramic and composite materials.
