Summary

A phytobezoar, or mass of undigested vegetable fibres accumulates in the stomach or upper small bowel in a variety of pathological conditions. We report a phytobezoar in association with a congenital jejunal diaphragm presenting with intermittent small bowel obstruction. Diagnosis can only be made at laparotomy. The treatment is operative removal of the bezoar together with excision or repair of the involved bowel segment.
