Summary
In this paper, a coefficient of association has been suggested and its properties have also been investigated in the light of Renyi's demands for a coefficient of association. Also, a test of association has been proposed on the basis of a sample counterpart of this coefficient of association, calculated fromr×s contingency tables. This is thus an alternative to the usual Chi-square.
