Summary
Bovine Cutaneous Streptothricosis is an intractible disease of cattle in Northern Nigeria of considerable economic importance due to extensive morbidity and high mortality in infected cases. In spite of much research, the epidemiology of the disease is not well understood. Items of observation and investigation over several years in an area of endemicity are recorded and some recommendations for control of infection in such areas are suggested.

La streptothricose cutanée bovine est une maladie invétérée du bétail de Nigeria du Nord, ayant une importance économique considérable par suite de sa morbidité très élevée et de sa haute mortalité dans les cas infectés. En dépit d’un gros travail de recherches, l’épidémiologie de cette maladie n’est pas encore éclaircie. Des renseignements relevant d’observations et de recherches suivies pendant plusieurs années dans une zone d’endémie sont rapportés; quelques recommandations sont suggérées pour la prophylaxie de la maladie dans de telles régions.

La streptotricosis cutanea de los bovinos es una enfermedad intratable en Nigeria y de considerable importancia económica debido a la extensive morbilidad y a la alta mortalidad en los casos infectados. A pesar de la mucha investigación realizada, la epidemiología de la enfermedad no es bien entendida, Puntos de observación e investigación en el transcurso de los años en un area endémica son aquí registrados y se sugieren algunas recomendaciones para el control de la infección en tales areas.
