Summary
A report is made on 14 cases of Salmonella bacteremia observed at a University Hospital over a nine year period. There was a striking predominance of cases infected with S. typhimurium and a striking association of this syndrome with the administration of corticosteroids or cytostatic agents. A definite male predominance was noted and a high frequency of underlying hematologic abnormalities. The mortality immediately related to this infection was 5/14.
