Abstract
Automatic evaluation of output quality for Machine Translation (MT) systems is a difficult task. The Institute of Computational Linguistics of Peking University has developed an automatic evaluation system. This paper introduces the basic principles of the Machine Translation Evaluation (MTE) system and its implementation techniques, and describes the results achieved.
