Additional information

This paper was written when I was a visiting fellow, at King's College, Cambridge University, and parts of it were delivered in talks at Manchester University on March 20, 1972 and at Edinburgh University on April 25, 1972. Peter McHugh discussed revisions and was dialectically responsible for its evolution. The paper collects some after-thoughts made on the occasion of the completion of my book,Theorizing, and some of these notions are re-formulated in works in progress, particularly inThe Life and Times of Socrates of Athens as seen by His Friends and Enemies, forthcoming, 1975.
