The Costa Rican Neurointensive and Neuromonitoring Course was held in San Jose, Costa Rica from April 10–11, 2007. Hosted by Dr. Jorge Ramirez and Dr. Juan Padilla of UNIBE (Universidad de Iberoamerica), this conference brought together local physicians and international experts in a 2-day forum to address issues in the clinical care of patients with neurological emergencies, with special attention to aspects relevant to care models in developing systems such as that in Costa Rica. Over 100 attendees from backgrounds including neurology, neurosurgery, and medical/pulmonary critical care participated in this first-of-its kind conference in Costa Rica.
