Contemporary use of beta receptor antagonists in chronic heart failure

β-adrenergic receptor antagonists slow disease progression, improve symptoms, and increase survival. They should be considered standard of care for patients with stable heart failure and understanding which drugs provide benefit and how to initiate therapy is crucial to improving prognosis.
