The European Congress of Radiology was held in Vienna, Austria, on the 3rd through the 7th of March 2011. In total just over 20,000 delegates attended the meeting from 96 countries. During the 5 days of the meeting, 79 musculoskeletal papers selected by the scientific committee were presented on a wide range of topics in eight separate sessions. Further scientific presentations were available for review in the form of electronic posters during the meeting.

Cartilage imaging

A session dedicated to cartilage and bone imaging included reports on a variety of techniques for cartilage imaging. A group from the Netherlands presented data from a cadaveric knee study which utilised clinical CT arthrography to assess intrasubstance cartilage by measuring CT attenuation values [1].
