The waveform affects the quality and mechanical performance of a workpiece during electric discharge machining (EDM). This study uses the wavelet transform to process the waveform of EDM. The data of the waveform are obtained from the voltage and current between the workpiece and the electrode of the electric discharge machine, and are then calculated by the wavelet transform. The outcome shows that after the transformation, the original data can easily identify the different machining condition, thus, providing clear and useful information for the on-line control of EDM.
