Abstract

The photoluminescence, thermoluminescence, and excitation spectra of CaS:Eu and CaS:Ce phosphors containing various coactivators were measured. The spectra of deep trapping levels in these phosphors were studied for the first time. Optical information writing and storage effects were found in the UV range for both phosphors and in the visible range for CaS:Eu. The written optical information can be readout by IR irradiation.
