Mahale chimpanzees taste mangoes—Toward acquisition of a new food item?

For the first time in 16 years of study, some chimpanzees in Kasoje in the Mahale Mountains, western Tanzania, were observed to feed on mangoes. Though this incident did not directly result in the intensive use of the fruit, it implied a process with which chimpanzees acquire new food items.
