Conclusions

  1. 1.

The use of massive reinforced-concrete blocks for mooring trestle piers eliminated concreting of the piers in place under conditions of appreciable depths (4.5–10 m) and variable water levels in the lower pool of the hydroelectric power station. Performing these works in a fabricating yard simplified the operations and reduced the labor consumption.

  2. 2.

By using hollow structures the volume of reinforced concrete was reduced, the weight reduced, and buoyancy ensured, thanks to which transportation of the blocks from the fabricating yard to the place of installation was readily accomplished.

  3. 3.

The design and the adopted method of constructing the piers reduced the cost of the work and shortened the construction time.
