Summary

By rearing the predacious miteAmblyseius potentillae in a daily temperature cycle in constant darkness it could be shown that diapause may be thermoperiodically induced. When the same experiments were performed using diets without vitamin A it appeared that vitamin A is necessary to achieve a state of reproductive diapause in this mite.
