Abstract

Quebec ecologists have divised, for more than 25 years, an integrated landform-soil—vegetation approach to landscape typology and mapping. Basic concepts and principles of this approach are briefly described and illustrated. In spite of the huge areas already mapped, attempts to integrate such an information in the forestry practice have thus far proven inconclusive.
