Abstract

Diorchis flavescens (Krefft, 1873) Johnston, 1912 is considered the valid full citation of the name of a species of cestode from anseriform birds which has been confused withCloacotaenia megalops (Nitzsch in Creplin, 1829). Its status is based on the lectotype material and not on the original description. Czaplinski & Aeschlimann's (1987) renaming ofD. flavescens asD. thomasorum is not considered valid.
