EU Kooperationsprojekt – Making Capabilities Work („WorkAble“)

Zusammenfassung

Der Beitrag stellt das laufende EU Kooperationsprojekt „Making Capabilities Work“ (WorkAble), an dem 18 europäische Partner beteiligt sind, vor.

Inhalt ist die Übergangsproblematik junger Menschen von der Schule in die Erwerbsarbeit. Dabei geht es um die Frage, welcher personalen, sozialen und institutionellen Bedingungen es bedarf, um auf den Arbeitsmärkten europäischer Wissensgesellschaften nicht nur besser bestehen, sondern sich dabei zugleich Autonomie und Entscheidungsfreiheit bewahren zu können. Das Projekt hat sowohl qualitative als auch quantitative Forschungsanteile. Es rekurriert auf den gerechtigkeitsfundierten Capability Approach („Befähigungsansatz“). Untersucht werden die Perspektiven der Betroffenen selbst, der Professionellen aus Übergangsmaßnahmen und der kommunal- und fachpolitischen Entscheidungsträger und Interessengruppen im Jugendhilfe- und Arbeitsmarktsektor.

Abstract

This article introduces the current cooperative EU project “Making Capabilities Work” (WorkAble), in which 18 European partners participate.

It looks at problems of transition of young people moving from school to employment. The question is which personal, social and institutional conditions are necessary to not only succeed in the labour markets of European knowledge societies, but also to maintain autonomy and freedom of choice. The project comprises qualitative as well as quantitative research and draws on the justice-based Capability Approach. The perspectives and prospects of those affected are analysed as well as those of professionals working in transition programmes, local decision makers whose work is related to the topics in question and interest groups in the youth welfare and labour market sector.
