Zusammenfassung

Rezidivierende symptomatische Harnweginfekte (HWI) bei Querschnittsgelähmten sind ein häufiges klinisches Problem. Eine effektive Prophylaxe ist oft nicht möglich. Wir präsentieren die Fallberichte von 5 Patienten mit rezidivierenden HWI, die additiv homöopathisch behandelt wurden. Unter dieser Therapie waren 3 Patienten infektfrei, bei 2 Patienten war die HWI-Frequenz rückläufig. Unsere ersten Erfahrungen mit einer homöopathisch unterstützten HWI-Prophylaxe sind ermutigend. Um die Effektivität dieses Konzepts evidenzbasiert zu evaluieren, sind prospektive Studien erforderlich.

Abstract

Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTI) in patients with spinal cord injury are a frequent clinical problem. Often, preventive measures are not successful. We present the case reports of five patients with recurrent UTI who received additional homeopathic treatment. Of these patients, three remained free of UTI, whereas UTI frequency was reduced in two patients. Our initial experience with homeopathic prevention of UTI is encouraging. For an evidence-based evaluation of this concept, prospective studies are required.
