Conclusion
At the time of the public scare over patients infected with HIV by a dentist in Florida, the resulting sense of crisis created serious division in the medical profession about the facts of HIV transmission and distortions in the public press about the frequency of transmission.20 With time, these problems have subsided, and HC workers now have an opportunity to reconsider how to treat HIV+ colleagues and how to educate the public.20 Whatever plan is adopted, it must address the concerns of both patients and those who will care for them.
