Der Wolf in Ostpreußen 1900–1945

Zusammenfassung

Es werden Notizen über den Wolf in Ostpreußen veröffentlicht, die in langjährigen Bemühungen gesammelt wurden. Berichte von Beobachtungen über das Verhalten wurden zusammengetragen und Listen von 101 Wolfserlegungen in den Jahren 1900 bis 1944 aufgestellt. Die Listen enthalten Angaben über Zeit und Ort der Erlegung, Geschlecht des Wolfes und Name des Erlegers.

Für die Bearbeitung wurden fünf Gebiete gesondert behandelt.

• Gebiet I: Die an Litauen grenzenden Memelforsten mit einer Strecke von 25 Wölfen,

• Gebiet II: Die Rominter Heide, Strecke 13 Wölfe,

• Gebiet III: Der waldärmere Südostwinkel der Provinz mit den Kreisen Goldap-Treuburg und Lyck, Strecke 15 Wölfe.

• Gebiet IV: Die masurische Seenplatte mit der Johannisburger Heide, Strecke 44 Wölfe.

• Gebiet V: Der Raum westlich Allenstein bis über die Weichsel, Strecke 4 Wölfe, die sämtlich Rüden waren.

Der Schwerpunkt des Wolfsvorkommens lag in dem behandelten Zeitraum in den Forsten Masurens vor der Front der rund 150 km langen südlichen Grenze gegen Polen. Hier wurden von 1924 bis 1936 allein 32 Wölfe geschossen oder gefangen.

Summary

Notes concerning wolves in East Prussia are published which have been accumulated during endeavours lasting for years. Reports of observations concerning the behaviour have been collected and lists were made of 101 wolves shot in the years 1900 to 1944. The lists contain indications of time and spot of the shooting, sex of the wolf, and names of the shooters.

5 districts were treated separately for this study.

• District I: The forests of the Memel bordering on Lithuania with 25 wolves shot,

• District II: The Heath of Rominten with 13 wolves shot,

• District III: The South-Eastern part of the province, which is less rich in wooded country, with the administrative districts Goldap-Treuburg and Lyck, with 15 wolves shot,

• District IV: The glade of the Masurian Lakes with the Heath of Johannisburg with 44 wolves shot,

• District V: The district in the West of Allenstein crossing the Vistula with 4 wolves shot, all of whom were males.

The main occurrence of wolves was to be found in the forests of Masuria in front of the Southern frontier to Poland, which is about 150 km long, within the period considered. I this district there were shot or caught 32 wolves already within the period of 1924 to 1936.

Résumé

On publie les notes sur l'existence du loup en Prusse Orientale, notes gagnées au cours de longues années. Les rapports sur les observations de moeurs furent ramassés et on dressait des tableaux sur 101 abattages des loups pendant un temps de 1900–1944. Ces tableaux contiennent tous les détails concernant temps et lieu de l'abattage, sexe du loup et le nom du chasseur.

Pour faciliter l'étude on traitait séparement 5 régions.

• Région I: Tous les forêts de Memel bordant la Lithouanie. Tableau: 25 loups.

• Région II: Les bruyères de Rominten. Tableau: 13 loups.

• Région III: Le coin au sud-est de la province pauvre en forêts avec les districts Goldap-Treuburg et Lyck. Tableau: 15 loups.

• Région IV: Le plateau de lacs masurien avec les bruyères de Johannisburg. Tableau: 44 loups.

• Région V: Le territoire à l'ouest de l'Allenstein, allant au dessus de la Vistule. Tableau: 4 loups-tous mâles.

Le centre de l'existence du loup se trouvait pendant l'époque traité aux forêts masuriens devant la frontière du sud vers la Pologne, d'une longueur de 150 kms. Ici seule on tuait ou capturait 32 loups au cours des années 1924–1936.
