Abstract

Acousto-optic interaction in the noble gases Krypton and Xenon under high pressure and in liquid Sulfurhexafluoride was measured in the far infrared spectral range at 119 μm (Methylalcohol-laser). The acousto-optic parameters of these interaction media are discussed and measured data on acoustic and electromagnetic absorption in the frequency range of interest is presented.
