Abstract

Behavior of the Ti-Al system during its mechanical activation in a high-energy planetary mill was explored. Complete amorphization of Al was attained after τ = 25 min of mechanical activation. The kinetics of changes in crystallite size (L) and micro stress (σ) in Ti and Al was derived. For τ < 25 min, no formation of intermetallics was observed.
