Abstract

According to the scientific analysis of the conditions of the transition from regular to catastrophic situations at thermal power, hydropower, and nuclear power facilities, an important role in maintaining and improving the safe operating conditions of power plants within the framework of current concepts, strategies, norms, and regulations is played by the level of the scientific and practical rationale of predictable and acceptable risks characterizing the regular and limit states of these facilities. The strategy of solving these problems for power generation facilities in the direction considered defines and fixes the transition to risk analysis and management as the backbone system of ensuring safe operating conditions in addition to the current approaches and the approaches in development, which are mainly based on parameters such as the strength and useful life.
