Abstract
Using micro- and nanoindentation techniques, we have studied the mechanical properties of Y3Al5O12 optical ceramics: coarse-grained, prepared by vacuum sintering, and nanostructured, prepared by high-pressure, low-temperature sintering. The effect of grain size on the strength of the ceramics has been analyzed.
