Samenvatting
De gouden standaard voor bottransplantatie is het gebruik van lichaamseigen (autoloog) bot. Dit autologe bot bezit osteoconductieve en osteoinductieve eigenschappen. Osteoconductiviteit is de eigenschap van een materiaal om als scaffold te functioneren waar nieuw gevormd bot en nieuw gevormde bloedvaten kunnen ingroeien. Osteoinductiviteit is de eigenschap van een materiaal om actief botvormende cellen aan te zetten tot het vormen van bot. Autoloog bot wordt vaak verkregen uit de bekkenkam.
