Abstract

The surface tension γ and the dynamic viscosity η of liquid alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metals at the melting point have been investigated. A physical interpretation of γ and η, as well as γ·η−1 and η2·γ−1, is given using surface density, thermal impulse, and the thermal length scale. Dimensionless surface tension and dimensionless dynamic viscosity at melting point are obtained, and excess entropy is calculated from the universal scaling law.
