By going back in time sometimes far beneath the present experience of illness itself, the question arises whether the more classical type of interview offered by psychoanalysis does not deserve its place in the process. Although it is no doubt highly relevant for my study, I chose not to bring psychoanalysis into my framework here for a simple reason: my choice has been to describe interview methods that I was trained for, therefore knowing them from within. Such a first person approach precludes that I would be trained as a psychoanalyst, which is not the case.
