Abstract

Meniscal root tears are severe injuries and lead to an increase in intra-articular pressure. In addition, they may negatively affect the knee stability. Knowledge of these injuries and their different etiologies might increase the awareness of these special meniscal lesions and improve the quality of treatment in the daily routine. The article describes the anatomy, biomechanics, etiology and possible surgical techniques to treat these root tears.
