It is interesting to recall that the University of Pennslyvania once employed Eadweard Muybridge, one of the godfathers of the motion picture, who conducted some of his historic research in the photography of motion at the university as early as 1885.
An ambitions 35mm film production program was begun at the University of Minnesota in the early thirties although the project was prematurely discontinued.
