Zusammenfassung
Muskelfasern aus der erschöpften indirekten Flugmuskulatur von Wespen (Vespa germanica F.) zeigen deutliche morphologische Unterschiede gegenüber Fasern aus der ausgeruhten Muskulatur.

Die Myofilamente der Muskelfibrillen aus erschöpften Fasern haben häufig ihre optimale Ordnung verloren. Dieser Ordnungsverlust muß, falls er auch in vivo existiert, den Kontraktionsmechanismus beeinträchtigen.

Die Z-Streifen der Myofibrillen aus erschöpften Fasern sind oft verbreitert, was als Störung der Relaxation gedeutet werden kann.

Die Mitochondrien sind ausnahmslos, wenn auch in sehr verschiedenem Ausmaß, geschwollen. Der höchste Grad der Schädigung besteht in Sprengung ihrer äußeren Membran, die zum Verlust der typischen Mitochondrienform führt. Funktionell dürfte diese Veränderung eine Beeinträchtigung des Citronensäurecyclus zur Folge haben.
Die Beobachtungen an den Mitochondrien gaben Veranlassung, die Mehrphasigkeit der Mitochondrien und die Folgen der Schwellung für das Schnittbild der Mitochondrien ausführlicher zu diskutieren.
