Abstract
Konkani is the official language of the state of Goa in India. The Konkani WordNet development activity was possible due to the funding support received from the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), New Delhi, and the technical support received from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai. The Konkani WordNet has been developed as part of the Indradhanush WordNet Consortium Project which was funded by DeitY, New Delhi, for developing WordNets of seven Indian languages. In this chapter, we present the journey of the Konkani WordNet development process and its impact on the research activity in Natural Language Processing (NLP) at Goa University. We have also briefly discussed the tools and utilities developed for NLP during the Konkani WordNet creation process.
