Synthesis and Magnetic Properties of Pb-doped Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O Films

Abstract

We synthesized Pb-doped Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thin films by rf magnetron sputtering. We attempted to reduce Pb concentration to 0.8 the amount of Bi and deposited slightly Cu-rich films. After sintering for only one hour, nearly single-phase high-Tc thin films were synthesized. We studied their magnetic properties. Flux creep was observed to obey logarithmic time decay of magnetization. Pinning po¬tential for flux motion perpendicular to c-axis was estimated to be 0.028 eV at 10 K, which is much smaller than that for 1-2-3 compounds and Bi-layered bulk samples. Flux creep was observed to depend on sintering conditions. Faster heating rate during sintering led to slower flux creep rate.
