Zusammenfassung
Beziehungsvariablen und der Umgang mit Widerstand tragen zum Therapieerfolg bei. Hilfreich sind u. a. positive Erfolgserwartungen, ein glaubwürdiges Erklärungsmodell, gute Vorbereitung therapeutischer Aufgaben, soziale Verstärkung, häufige Zusammenfassungen und Rückmeldungen, komplementäre Beziehungsgestaltung und die Beachtung kultureller Besonderheiten. Gegen den Therapiefortschritt gerichtete Verhaltensweisen und Einstellungen (Widerstand) hängen oft mit Ambivalenz bzgl. der Therapieziele zusammen. Es ist wichtig, Widerstandsphänomene nicht einfach als gegeben anzunehmen, sondern ihre Ursachen zu untersuchen und Machtkämpfen vorzubeugen. Dabei helfen über die allgemeinen Prinzipien der Verhaltenstherapie hinaus Maßnahmen wie geleitetes Entdecken (bei kognitiver Umstrukturierung), Trennung von Entdecken und Verändern (bei Reattribution), widerstandsmindernde Reihenfolge beim Korrigieren von Fehlinterpretationen und Ermutigung von Fragen und Zweifeln als therapeutische Grundhaltung.
